June came unnanounced but we gladly welcomed it and its perks. In the middle of a closed street sat a piano player, entertaining people with his music, but we were all too busy to listen. Should have I paid more attention, I would have noticed the melancoly in his voice, his broken hearted lyrics hid behind the beamy melody and pretented that he no longer cared for his long lost love. People passed by, noding their head to the rhythms but never stayed for more than a song ; probably because they didn’t have coins nor time to spare. I too didn’t qualify as a perfect audience. My mind wondered amongst anxious and regretful thoughts, somehow meeting the musician’s topic which clashed with the summery vibe. How I wished it rained that day! But the weather never agrees with the mood, for this is not a fiction ; and the end is unknown, although certainly, it won’t turn into a happy nor a tragic yet beautiful finally.

Thus, it was a bright sunny day, the musician and I shared a disguised sadness, and I felt grateful for his compassion. While he couldn’t mend his heart to his past experiences, I feared for the future of my relationship. The year will soon come to its end and H. will start his application for his graduate studies, categoric about pursuing his academic prowess somewhere else. I too wasn’t found of our city but as you grow older (and wiser), it is more comfortable to let go of old dreams. I have tasted the western way of life over the last two years, sweet and bitter moments cycled by as expected. I too noticed the lack of character of the city and its inhabitants but found solace in the beautiful wilderness its borders had to offer.
