CHAPTER 9

THE END OF ANIMAL FARM AS AN UTOPIA

Boxer’s split hoof was a long time in healing. They had started the rebuilding of the windmill the day after the victory celebrations were ended. Boxer refused to take even a day off work, and made it a point of honour not to let be seen that he was in pain. In the evenings he would admit privately to Clover that the hoof troubled him a great deal. Clover was really worried about Boxer’s hoof. She is over thinking to find a way to healed him. Napoleon doesn’t care about him and this makes her so mad, then, she had an idea. What if she, with Benjamin’s help, leave the farm during the night to looking for something can healed her friend? If she proposes it to Boxer he would be stressed to betray the Napoleon’s rules, so she won’t tell him her plan. That is the only way to save him, in view of the fact that no one care about him, but she care. Clover tell to Benjamin the plan, at the beginning he was very septic about this, if Napoleon realize that they left, they will be probably in great trouble, but he finally accepted for the reason that he is worried about Boxer too. They decided to leave the Animal Farm as soon as possible during the night, but carefully to do not wake up other animals.

All the animals are sleeping, but Clover and Benjamin don’t. Clover left the farm first, Benjamin in second. They will meet each other in the forest next to the farm. When Clover prepares her to pass the gate, Moses surprises her and comes toward her. He asks why she wants to leave the farm during the night, she started to lie, she said that she was thirsty and decided to go to the well next to the farm. He understands quickly, she is lying to him. She decided to tell him the truth at her own risks, but contrary to what she thought, he was very comprehensive about this situation. Then Benjamin is coming and sees Clover with the raven, and doesn’t understand what is happened, so thinking they haven’t seen him, he hide him in a bush quickly to observe what they are doing. But Clover has seen Benjamin and comes toward him to say that Moses knows about the plan and he won’t tell anybody. Benjamin doesn’t trust Moses, so he proposes him to come with them, he accepted.
