After reading animal farm, I realised that every character in the book is someone important in the Russian revolution. This essay will be about à character I chose and who he is representing. I chose Napoleon because he’s one of the most important characters in the book. He represents Joseph Stalin and I’ll explain why in this essay
Firstly, who is Joseph Stalin? Stalin was the dictator of the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953. He ruled until his death in 1953. During his time in power, the country was gripped by famine and fear, millions of people starved to death and those who opposed him were imprisoned or killed. Napoleon is not very a good speaker while he makes his speech. But people still listen to him because the way he talks, very quietly. The way he talks was scaring people. In my research, I saw that he was speaking very low and that was threatening people and he was almost never in public. People feared Stalin. Moreover, Napoleon was not seen in public very often. It says that in the farmhouse, napoleon was sleeping in separate appartement from the others. «Napoleon himself was not seen in public as often as once in a fortnight. When he did appear. He was attended by not only his retinue of dogs but by a black cockerel who marched in front of him and acted as king of a trumpeter» p.64. Exactly like Stalin was acting. Furthermore, Napoleon was the one people were following exactly like Stalin.
In conclusion, George Orwell wrote his story in order that napoleon act exactly like Stalin. For example, speaking low and was almost never in public. George Orwell did a book that explains well the Russian revolution.
