ORAL SOCIAL  MEDIA

Clara: Stop being on your phone… (wait two seconds) Did you hear me? (Take the phone)

Zoé: Hey, give me my phone back please! I was looking if people liked the photo I posted on my Instagram account!

Clara:  You are always on your phone, it’s an addiction! You can develop anxiety and you’re going to become nomophobic. You should stop to spend all your time in this. You probably use your phone six hours a day, this is a lot!

Zoé: Yes, I know use my phone a lot but I have a big community and a blog to keep so I have to post regularly! It develops my skills and with my posts I raise money.

Clara: What kind of photos do you share and how do you raise money?

Zoé: I like to post photos of the environment, of our dog and cat and with my family. I can make money when a lot of people see my posts. The more people see, the more money I make. That’s why I post regularly.

Clara: Who can see your posts because I don’t want strangers to see you.

Zoé: My friends, family and all the people in the world. What are you aware of?

Clara: I’m afraid you’ll get harassed on social media because people can be very mean. You ought to be careful with whom you share your privacy on Internet. Strangers can see your privacy and they can be malicious people. I’d like you to put your accounts in private so that only your friends and family can see you. You should be listening to me.

Zoé: Don’t worry. I pay attention and you know that with social media I can know the news in the world as soon has it happened.

Clara: And you believe this? It is may be fake news and I don’t want you to be influenced.

Zoé: But I follow a lot of certificates account of TV media and this can teach me a lot. For example, on TikTok where is a lot of shorts video where I can learn things and the news.

Clara: You were forbidden to use TikTok because you waste your time scrolling on this application and your grades have been slipping, and you're missing out on family time. Have you considered the impact this addiction might be having on your life?

Zoé: I know I musn’t use this but You're just overreacting. Everyone is using social media, and I don't want to be left out. It must be hard for you to understand, but social media may play a crucial role in my generation's communication.

Clara: I'm not saying you can't use social media, but you must find a balance. Excessive use is not healthy, and I won't allow it to negatively impact your life. It might be affecting you more than you realize. Balance is essential, and might be missing out on other opportunities and experiences because of your excessive screen time.

Zoé : I doubt it. Social media is the best way to stay updated and connected. You might not understand because you didn't grow up with it. Do you know what is an avatar, a hashtag, an emoji, a meme…

Clara: Don’t take me for an elder. When I was young, I went out with my friends, not like you. For instance, I used to go the cinema, I used to play basketball and I used to dance with them too. Maybe you should try setting some limits for yourself because you are in another world.

Zoé: I don't need limits. Social media is my way of staying connected with friends, chatting with them and sharing them photos of me. It's important to me.
