History
Boxing has existed for thousands of years in diverse cultures around the world. However, the modern form of boxing, as it is practiced today with gloves, rules, and rounds, originated in 18th century England.
The first official boxing championship was held in 1867 in London. The rules of boxing continued to evolve over time, with the addition of rules and weight classes, until boxing became a popular and regulated sport in many countries of the world.
