Art and power

I)I have chosen an Animated film called UP. It is a film of Disney Pixar animation studio developed in the United States and published in 2009.This movie tells the story of an old man who decides to realize the dream of his wife by hanging a thousand of balloon on his home and flying to South America, with a young boy who is always optimistic and happy but also invasive.

II)We can think that this film is not an Art. In fact, some people will pretend that’s it’s too childish to be art first because of the age of the audience and secondly because of the universe so fantastic which is opposed of any maturity because according to them art must be something mature intended only for an audience intellectual, reasonable and serious.

I’m clearly opposed to this way of thinking and that’s why I have choosen the animated film Up as an art.

III)

I find that the animated film Up is an art because:

There is creativity.

Indeed colors are everywhere in this film and create a fantastic universe.

Then, the drawings are extremely well realized with an exceptional visual quality and a 3D animation to create imaginary worlds and Fabulous landscapes. The characters are expressive so you can feel the emotions

Next, we can talk about dialogues in the films which gives life to the characters making them human and therefore more likable. Dialogue allows emotions to be transmitted

To finish , The music allows the emotions to be amplified. For example the music “married life”shows the old man's life from joy to sadness, which allows the emotional side of the story to be amplified.

IIII) Conclusion

To conclude, we have seen that the film of animation Up is an art because of its creativity by colors, drawings, dialogues and music. Moreover we can see that it is an art for eyes with colors and drawing but also for ears with music and dialogues,making it an art in its own right. We have also seen that emotions are everywhere in this film so according to Eugene Smith who says “The purpose of all art is to cause a deep emotion, also one that is entertaining or pleasing.” we can conclude that the animated film Up is definitely an Art because it causes deep emotions like joy,sadness but it also aims to entertain.
