The effects of sport on health

Spontaneously we tend to say that sport is beneficial to health because studies have shown that sports people who take care of their bodies are less affected by early deaths and certain diseases than sedentary people. The benefits of sport on health are far put forward but we do not talk enough about the harmful effects it can cause. One may wonder what are the different effects of sport on health. The positive and negative effects of sport on health will be presented.

I- The beneficial aspects of sport on health

We know that sport is conducive to physical well-being and psychological individuals.

a) Physical Benefits

• Sport has positive effects on the cardiovascular system. In fact, regular physical activity even moderate improves blood circulation, protect the arteries and lowering blood pressure. Indeed, the more one makes the heart work, the more it strengthens. It becomes more powerful allowing it to beat more slowly. It will therefore save money and wear less rapidly with age. Thus, partially removes the risk of cardiovascular diseases, cancers Additionally, be aware that the lack of physical activity and regular training triples the risk of cardiovascular mortality.

• Sport also has effects on the respiratory system. Shortness of breath occurs when the lungs are "overwhelmed". Physical exercise will effectively increase the ventilation and air circulation in the lungs. In the long term, regular practice of a sport allows to maintain or improve the capacity of the respiratory volume.

• On the musculoskeletal system: there is an increase in the strength and tone of underlying muscles and increased volume

With this improvement in muscle tone, sport helps prevent pain in the hips, knees, and especially of the spine. Articular point of view, the sports exercise keeps and even develop the natural amplitude of the joints. Physical activity is the best preventive treatment of osteoarthritis. At the level of the bone, sport also has beneficial effects. It helps increase bone density in children and adolescents, helps maintain the same bone density in adults and limits the loss of bone mass usually related to age. It also facilitates the binding of calcium and is a great way to prevent a common disease in the elderly: osteoporosis.
