About me
My name is Océane Martignon and I am 21 years old. I have a baccalaureate in Science, Management and Marketing. Currently, I’m in a 2 years BTS Administrative sandwich course.
For my diploma, I work as a management assistant in the company GESTEC. My company is located in Ozoir-la-Ferrière. My school helped me find this company. I gave them my CV and my cover letter and they passed it on to the company. Then GESTEC called me to set a date for an interview. A few days later, the director contacted me to tell me that he was interested in my profile and that he wanted to hire me.
Company
GESTEC was created in 1987 (nineteen eighty-seven) and is locate in Ozoir-la-Ferrière.
It specializes in the sale of photocopiers, printers, office equipment and consumables. The company has five employees. Our clients are most often professionals, but there are also individuals. We sell our products throughout the Ile de France.
The GESTEC slogan is "the technical gesture and more". It’s main suppliers are Techdata, Also, Dexon and Optic Media.
In spite of a very important competition with Internet, our company has an established position and is always very competitive thanks to their experience.
My department, tasks and activities
I work in connection with the management assistant and my position is at the reception. Within the company my activities are very varied. They include mainly administrative tasks.
My typical day looks like this:
- I start at eight o'clock
- I open my workstation and look at my mails
- I take the mail and I sorting out in the different pockets
- I make delivery vouchers on EBP
- I welcome customers to make photocopies
- I do customer reminders
- I also handle customer calls with their different claims
- I finish at five o'clock in the afternoon
Company’ atmosphere
At GESTEC, there is a good working atmosphere. We are a small company and therefore exchanges between employees are simple and direct. As a result, it is easy to create links and relationships with my coworkers. Of course, misunderstandings can and do occur but in general the problem is solved quickly.
During this learning, I received support and help from my tutor. It was very helpful because it helped me understand the complexities of the management assistant job.
Experience’s conclusion
In conclusion, I think this learning has been very beneficial for my professional experience.
My learning of the different administrative tasks that I use every day could be put into practice in any other small or medium business.
Indeed, this type of practical experience is a real plus when you start in the world of work.
Thanks to this experience, I can really say that I know how a company works. I apply to work what I’m learning at school, whether it’s communication, accounting or human resources.
Now, I feel reassured and it’s confirm my opinion on the professional direction that I choose and that I would like to follow in the future.
Internships and sandwich courses are a great way to be immediately operational in the world of work.
Thanks to this two-year apprenticeship, I grew up and gained self-confidence. But also, I was able to make decisions and take my own initiatives despite my young age and therefore gain autonomy.
