Greetings
I would like to thank my business school, Ipag Business School, for giving us the chance to discover the world with its academic exchange opportunity with universities from all over the world. Thanks to our school, we have the opportunity to become more independent and to experience different cultures.
I would like to thank Mrs Caroline Ferrero who has helped us so much to prepare for our expatriation year by giving us advice, following us step by step until we find what suits us best.
I would like to thank all the members of the Ipag Business School who took care of us so that we could get the best score on the English Toefl exam so that we could choose the university we liked.
I would also like to thank the University of Greenwich for giving us the opportunity to live as one of its students for a semester and to discover a culture we don't know enough about.
I would like to thank the professors at the University of Greenwich who took the time to show us how courses are run in the UK and to teach us the useful elements we needed to succeed in our semester.
Last but not least, I would like to thank all the Erasmus students who come from very far away and who made my virtual expat experience more fun on the WhatsApp groups and during the TDs. I have made some good friends who I look forward to meeting one day.
Introduction
During my third academic year at IPAG Business School, students have the opportunity to spend a year abroad. One of the two semesters has to be in a foreign university and the other semester has to be an internship abroad. For my part, I chose to do my exchange semester in S05 in London, at the University of Greenwich. For me, this experience was fundamental to be able to discover a new rich and beautiful culture, to be able to integrate myself in an environment I don't know at all. My semester was supposed to start in September 2020 and finish at the end of December 2020...
Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to be in London because of the health crisis at Covid 19. I was forced to do my university exchange semester in Paris, France.
So, in this report, I would like to tell you how my academic exchange semester went, while at the same time describing how I experienced my disappointment at not having had the chance to be there. We will see together in this report a description of the University of Greenwich and its location, the difficulties I may have encountered and finally end with my point of view on this academic exchange.
Country and University Description
The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is an insular kingdom in Western Europe covering an area of 242,495 km². It inspires millions of people all over the world with its exceptional landscapes and remarkably rich cultural heritage.
Its vast culture comes from its four different countries which it combines: the cultures of England, the culture of Scotland, the culture of Wales and the culture of Northern Ireland. Each of these four constituent nations has its own system of geographical administrative demarcation and local government. As a result, there are no common corner local authorities throughout the United Kingdom.
In addition to this kingdom there are 4 islands including the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, Jersey and Guernsey. The United Kingdom also has 14 overseas territories.
The capital of this kingdom is London, which is located in England. The monetary currency is the pound sterling. The national language of the country is English.
The United Kingdom is best known for its power throughout history. It is known to have been one of the most powerful countries. In addition, the United Kingdom had the largest colonial empire in history, whose strength was most notably represented by the colonization of India, a country that made the United Kingdom the most powerful empire. During the 19th century the United Kingdom was named the first industrialised nation, which gave it the lead over all other European countries in becoming the world's leading economic power.
