Comment Peut-On Définir Le Succès? (document en anglais)

Success is defined in the dictionary as “the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals” or “the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like”.

Generally, people have the same view and definition of success. But the problem is, people may not be able to tell what constitutes success because the term “success” is more complicated than we think.

For me, success is a relative term because goals are relatives to each person. If someone accomplish his goals, that’s a success whatever if his goals are less ambitious than others’ goals. Everyone has a different expectation.

Secondly, success is connected with values and beliefs. If someone’s value system says having money is important in life, then that person will deem that as a success. But if someone’s value system says peace, integrity and happiness are more important that having money in life; It presents a different notion of success. The lifestyle and the individual habits of everyone contributes to their success.

At the end, success means realizing whatever dream or goal what is in my, your minds upon, from which we derive a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. And happiness or self-confidence, being well are not the result of success, It might be but not always because there are some people who are never satisfied about what they do because they have a low esteem of themselves or because they are highly critical or are too perfectionist.
