The fault in our stars
The book I'm going to talk about today is very well known.
It is called: The fault in our stars.
It was written by John Green in the United States.
This book is a novel that was published in January 2012.
It is a very touching, moving but extremely beautiful and well written book.
It is a novel for teenagers, full of love, joy and sadness.
It is the story of two teenagers with cancer. Hazel Grace Lancaster, 16 years old, tells us her story... She is sick. Her parents force her to go to a support group. There she meets a boy, Augustus Waters.
They become friends... He is in remission, she is condemned. Their famous phrase is: Okay? Okay!
Hazel is afraid of their relationship but during a trip to Amsterdam for a crazy project, their love story begins...
Later, Gus' condition worsens, his days are numbered.
One day, Hazel learns the death of augustus. She is upset.
It's a story that touched me because it's a story that deals with the subjects of everyday life, cancer, and despite the illness, it's not an obstacle to the disease.
Even with the disease you can love, travel, live your life as you want.
In spite of what we may think, this book gives us the message that even with this disease (cancer) we can live and enjoy the joys that life offers us.
Hazel is a girl who is determined and knows what she wants, she knows she is going to die, yet she is trying to overcome the routine of the disease.
Augustus is a young man who has been in remission but later he will catch up with his cancer, he met Hazel during their support sessions at the church. He is very cheerful, he is not afraid of the disease and he loves Hazel more than anything else.
My favorite scene is at the church when Augustus is preparing his funeral. It was a moment that touched me especially because Hazel is going to give Augustus a farewell message. It's a very touching moment and it shows that they really loved each other and that it was not artificial.
My general opinion about this book is that it's a very beautiful book, very moving, which is perfect for young people. And that it's also good for supporting sick children and giving them hope. Personally I loved it!
