Introduction
In a world without innovation, there would be no growth. The humanity would not be what it is today without innovating. It is by the innovation that human managed to develop and to improve himself. « The entrepreneur is characterized principally by innovative behavior and will employ strategic management practices in the business. » (William B. Gartner 1988, p.23) It is a person, who is in front of a problem, seeks and finds solutions to surpass this problem. The purpose of this assignment is to identify three aspects or behaviors of my personality that show my potential to becoming an entrepreneur. But also identify three aspects or behaviors that might inhibit me to be an entrepreneur. In addition, I need to find and explicate which type of business would best correspond to me and where I could show all my potential.
The reasons which will make me an entrepreneur
The entrepreneur owns abilities which make him a committed person and allow him to reach his goals. I think I have some abilities that I gained in the past, that show my capacity to becoming an entrepreneur. « Those with family business experience tend to possess more developed entrepreneurial attitudes and self-efficacy. » (Vuong, Do and Vuong, 2016) I am part of a family composed of entrepreneurs. Indeed, forty years ago, my father and his brother created the TEEPRINT Company. It is a venture specialized in the transformation and impression on textile like T-shirts, towels, caps… Their purpose was to sustain and develop the activity of the venture to the maximum. They faced certain failures, but these experiences there have allowed them to enhance their determination to reach their goals. Thus, it is by undertaking their ideas and innovate that the company is actually the leader in the transformation and impression on textile in New Caledonia. Since my childhood and thanks to my education I was able to discover the business world. Therefor, I grew up by seeing them developing and realizing their ideas. They are for me my models, and I am inspired by their works to be in the future, an entrepreneur.
In addition, in the life, I like to be independent. I like to follow my ideas and be free in what I do. To be independent in my works allows me to realize things that I like, to express my personality and to develop a certain passion in what I do. However, it does not mean that I do not appreciate collaborating with other people. On the contrary, I love sharing ideas and work in groups. But only with serious people and which have a sense of priorities.
Then the perseverance is an important quality for an entrepreneur, and I think I have this quality.
The perseverance is the fact to not give up when you fix you a purpose in life. It is the thing which motivates you constantly to surpass yourselves and permit you to progress in what you do. Indeed, when I fix me a goal, I feel obligated to reach it. It does not matter the time or the efforts that it will take, give up is not a solution that I will take. Because if I give up, I will have regrets and I will blame myself to have not given all the efforts to achieved my goals.
The reasons which inhibit me to be an entrepreneur
Every person having the desire to become an entrepreneur does not necessarily have all the required qualities. Some aspects of my personality might inhibit me to become it. The first reason is the creativity. Creativity is the ability to think and create something new. Moreover, it is a fundamental capacity for an entrepreneur who wants to innovate. « While many scholars acknowledge that creativity is an essential aspect of entrepreneurship and most managers encourage creativity, very little is known about how the process works, especially with respect to recognizing entrepreneurial opportunities. » ( Ko & Butler 2007, p.366)A person without creativity does not innovate. It is an ability which I think is not enough developed in me. It is hard for me to think outside the frame which is imposed on me. When I have an idea in my mind, there is always my critical aspect which tells me that it is a bad idea or it will never work. That is this kind of thought that I need to eliminate to be more creative.
