Part 1 : Jobs

1. She need to speak English not only with American and British visitors, outside August and July many tourist site only propose visits in French and English, she need to give guide tours in English to different nationalities (Russian, Japanese, and Chinese tourists).

2. If she knows the site she doesn’t have any research to do, but have to find as much as she knows about the group, that she can adapt her presentation to their level of interest. She will not give the same sort of presentation to the group of students in architecture as she would give to a simple group of school students.

But if she’s not familiar with the site she prepares the presentation in many ways as she would

in French, the first thing that she do is that she collected as much information as she can if possible in English, than she put them in the right order, she eliminated what is not important, than she prepares a series of notes, and sometimes she practiced it with her friend, if she uses a new word for her, she need to find the way that it should be pronounced.

3. To prepare the presentation formerly and in the ways that she described, make a series of notes, but don’t try to out the all presentation someones reading from the paper sound no serious and no professional, the English should be simple and clear and the notes should be consisted, the information you want to give to the group and one or two expression you should remember that not all the people of the group would be native English speakers. You don’t need to learn all the hug words of architecture or somethings like that because most of the group will not be interest of the technical details it’s more important to learn the keywords and structure that will give a general good presentation.

Part 2 : Welcoming

1) Greet the group = « excuse me are you the groupe .... is everyone here »

2) Introduce yourself = « good-morning every one , my name is ... and I’m your guide »

3) Say what you are going to show your group = « this morning we will visit ... »

4) Ask people to do something (directing people) = « so if you would like to follow me we can

start our visit »

5) Attract peoples attention to something = « over there »

6) Indicated exactly where something is = « if you look down there by the river just next to ... »
