I. What is the Super Bowl ?

Let's talk about the origins of the Super Bowl Game.

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It's the highest level of professional American football in the US.

It was created in 1967 as the "NFL-AFL World Championship Game" but medias and fans preferred to call it " The Super Bowl ". The official name of Super Bowl was given during the third edition of the game.

The Super Bowl brings together the National Football Conference's champion (NFC) and the American Football Conference's one (AFC) on a middle ground.

The victorious team wins the Vince Lombardi Trophy, called that way in 1970 in tribute to the coach of the Packers from Green Bay, winners of the two first editions.

Currently, the National Football Conference leads the series with 25 wins to 22 wins for the American Football Conference. anectodes :

Four teams never reached the Super Bowl : Detroit, Cleveland, Houston and Jacksonville.

There are 32 teams playing in two separate leagues called "Conferences".

These conferences are divided in four divisions.

The regular season (from september to december) lasts 16 matches.

Winners from each division and the two best seconds will be able to play the play-offs. Then : quarter finals - semi finals - finals of conferences - Super bowl.

How to score in a game ?

The main goal is to score a " Touchdown "

To touchdown the player has to go across the "end zone" holding the ball in his hands and touching the field with his two feet. A touchdown makes 6 points, and its conversion by shooting makes 1 point.

There's also another way to score points during the game which is called the " safety " and makes 2 points.

You have to sack the opposing quarterback in his end-zone.
