SYDNEY

Sydney is the most populous city in Australia with an urban area comprising a 2012 population of 4,667,283 inhabitants1 spread over nearly 12,150 km2. It is the capital of the state of New South Wales and is located on the southeast coast of the country. Its inhabitants are called Sydneysiders or Sydneyites.

This is the British navigator James Cook who first saw the site of the current Sydney, which he named Port Jackson in 1770

Sydney hosted the Summer Olympics in 2000. The city also do Global Youth Day 2008.

Celebrations of the New Year and National Day in Sydney are the most important in Australia

The City of Sydney is located in a box by the Pacific Ocean to the coastal basin, the Blue Mountains to the west, the Hawkesbury River to the north
