I / Display of Manchester

Manchester is a city situed in the north west of England, in Greater Manchester. The fourth city of England, the population in Manchester was approximately 464 200 inhabitants in 2009. Now, its population had estimed 2,600,000 inhabitans. The demonym of Manchester is Mancunian. Manchester situed between the Cheshire Plain to the south and the Pennines to the north and east.

Manchester was the site of the world's first railway station, hosted the first meeting of the Trades Union Congress and is where scientists first split the atom and developed the first programmable computer. It is known for its music scene and its sporting connections. Manchester was the host of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and its sports clubs include two Premier League football teams, Manchester City and Manchester United.[8] Manchester is the third city most visited city in the United Kingdom by foreign visitors and the most visited in England outside London.[9]

Manchester is situated in 260 km in the northwest of London, in a "basin" lined in the North and in the East by Pennines, a mountain range of the North of England. The city center of Manchester is situated on the bank is of Irwell, not far from the place where this one meets the confluences that are Medlock and Irk. It is situated at a little raised height, between 35 and 42 m over the sea. The largest part of the city is perfectly flat, in particular in the South, and certain buildings offer views on foothills and moors of Pennines, often covered with snow in winter. Lancashire County Cricket Club's ground is also in Trafford.[148] Manchester United have the widest football club fanbase in the world, while Manchester City is the richest football club in the world, thanks to its wealthy owners.
