The situation of the royal family at present :
Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the British royal family and reigned for sixty years. It is the 32nd (thirty second) great-granddaughter (doter) of King Alfred the Great. She has four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She became the first monarch reigning to have been married during 60 years. In December, 2007, ( two thousand and seven) she is the oldest ruling British monarch.
When the queen wants to some functions, it is supported by other active members of the royal family. They contribute to the realization of a wide range of public tasks and involvement with charities and personal interests. Currently, the royal family is composed of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, as well as the following:
- The Prince of Wales and the duchess of Cornwall, who is the elder son of the queen and his second wife
- The duke and the duchess of Cambridge, William de Cambridge and his wife Catherine Middleton. He is the elder son of the Prince of Wales.
- Prince Georges of Cambridge, who is the son of the duke and the duchess of Cambridge.
- Prince Harry of Wales, who is the son of the Prince of Wales.
- The Princess Royal (Anne of the United Kingdom, daughter of the Queen)
- The Duke of York is the second son of the Queen
- Princess Beatrice of York and Princess Eugenie of York, who are the daughters of the Duke of York
- the count and the countess of Wessex (ouaissix)(Edward of Wessex, youngest son of the Queen, and his wife Sophie Rhys-Jones)
- Lady Louise Windsor (daughter of the Earl of Wessex)
- viscount Severn (James Mountbatten-Windsor, son of the count of Wessex)
- the duke and the duchess of Gloucester (Richard of Gloucester, cousin of the queen, and his wife Brigitte van Deurs)
- The Duke and Duchess of Kent (Edward of Kent, a cousin of the Queen)
- the prince and princess (Michael of Kent, he is the cousin of the Queen)
- Princess Alexandra of Kent (cousin of the Queen)
The members of the British royal family live in numerous residences everywhere in the United Kingdom. But the one which is mostly mention is Buckingham Palace, where the queen lives from Monday to Friday,. Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British monarchy in London. The palace is both the place where the events concerning the royal family take place; it is the home base of many heads of state's visits, and a major tourist attraction. It is the focal point of the British people at times of joy, crisis and grief. "Buckingham Palace" or simply "the Palace" means the source of press statements from the royal office.
The Apartments of State are the heart of the palace where we hurry up and are regularly used by the Queen and members of the royal family for official events. Buckingham Palace is one of the best known buildings around
