History
Procter and Gamble is an American multinational specialized in ordinary consumer goods in hygiene and cosmetics products.
William Procter, a candle maker, and James Gamble a soap maker , two immigrant men of England and Ireland, decided to gather their resources to create their own company.
This agreement was due to the suggestion of them father-in- law because they were married with two sisters.
Them Father-in-law Alexander Norris noted that his new sons were competing for the same raw materials. He suggested a joint venture. After several years the sons agreed so their first agreement was signed on October 31st, 1831.
The Procter & Gamble Company was established in 1837.
Evolution
1858-1859
The sales reached 1million $ and approximately 80 employees worked for P&G , the company won contracts to supply the union Army with soap and candles, with this important contracts the firm gained in notoriety due to its distribution through the country and with the fact that when the war was finished, militaries continued to buy P&G products at home.
The fact that P&G supplied soldiers enhanced the company's reputation for heavy-duty quality. That was reinforced when troops came home from the war carrying P&G's soap among their belongings.
1880’s
The company began to sell an inexpensive soap named “Soap Ivory” and who floats on the water

William Arnett Procter, William Procter's grandson, began a profit-sharing program for the company's workforce.
