I never been in Liverpool. Liverpool is located north west of England.
The city was founded in 1207 and obtained city status in 1880. With a population of 491,500 in 2017, it is the sixth largest city in the United Kingdom, and the fourth largest in England.
Its inhabitants are called Liverpudlians.
We can see here , the heraldry of Liverpool.
Liverpool is noted for its culture, architecture, and transport .
Liverpool, is a major British city with significant road, rail, and ferry networks, in addition to an international airport and a well-known dock system. As with most other major UK cities, Liverpool's transport infrastructure is centred on its road and rail networks. Public transport services within the city are controlled and run by Merseytravel. The road network in and around Liverpool is primarily managed by the relevant local authority in which the roads are located, although the major trunk roads are the responsibility of the Highways Agency.
Medieval Liverpool :
If the city of Liverpool dates from the eleventh century, nothing remains today of its medieval architecture. The oldest building still standing today, however, seems to be a 13th century monastic barn, the Stanlawe Grange in Aigburth.
Tudor and Elisabeth architecture:
Although there are not many remains of Tudor and Elizabet architecture, Speke Hall, located south of Liverpool, is a very good example. Another mansion dating back to that time, all combines different styles including Elizabeth and Georgian architecture as well as Queen Anne's own style .
The Stuart era :
Liverpool has several examples of Stuart-era buildings, the oldest of which is certainly the Tuebrook House, dating from 1615. Another fine example of this architectural style, the former Toxteth Chapel dates from 1618- 1620. Finally, built almost a century later, the building of Bluecoat Chambers is now the oldest building from Liverpool city center .
.Georgian architecture:
It was thanks to the activity of its commercial port, and especially of the transatlantic slave trade, that Liverpool became a rich city in the 17th century. As a result, many elegant houses and buildings have been built there, in particular the Liverpool Town Hall, whose interior is a superb example of Georgian architecture.
The neoclassical era:
Liverpool is home to many examples of neo-classical architecture, in particular The Lyceum, built in 1802, Wellington Rooms dating from 1816 and The Oratory from 1829. The area around William Brown Street, also known as a very beautiful collection of neoclassical buildings with buildings such as the William Brown Library and Museum, the Walker Art Gallery, and the Picton Library.
Victorian architecture:
The Liverpool docks are certainly the most impressive example of Victorian architecture in the city. Restored in 1980, Albert Dock is home to the largest number of Grade I buildings in England. Other examples of Victorian architecture include the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, the Liverpool Royal Infirmary and the Victoria Building of the University of Liverpool.
Buildings of the 20th and 21st centuries:
The twentieth century was very prolific in construction in Liverpool including the development of Pier Head, including the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building. In terms of places of worship, there are also Liverpool's two cathedrals: the Anglican cathedral and the Catholic cathedral of Christ the King. Finally, the most recent buildings were Echo Arena Liverpool and West Tower, both built in the 2000s.
It is closely associated with the arts, particularly music; the popularity of the Beatles, who are regarded as the most influential band in history, contributed to the city's status as a tourist destination.
Since then, the city has continued to produce hundreds of notable musical acts, musicians from Liverpool have produced 56 No. 1 singles, more than any other city in the world.
The most successful male band and girl group in global music history have contained Liverpudlian members. Liverpool is most famous as the birthplace of the Beatles and during the 1960s was at the forefront of the Beat Music movement, which would eventually lead to the British Invasion.
