Writing a report on the IT project of your group. Write on these sheets, following the guidelines.
Name of the project: Health and Fitness Apple Watch Application
Introduction: Write a couple of sentences, clearly and concisely defining the field and main objectives of the project.
The objective of the project is to develop an application for iPhone and Apple watch. This application is a health and fitness application. It aims to help the user to stay healthy and even lose weight.
Description:
Describe the project in more detail, as it was presented to you or as the group specified it.
The project is divided into three parts: the database, the iPhone application and the apple Watch application. In the iPhone application, the idea is to use existing technologies to be able to retrieve and process data. The Watch application will communicate with the iPhone application and provide it with data (suck as the number of heartbeats per minute of the user). The database will serve as storage for the data we will retrieve from both applications so we can re-use them
Define the various tasks involved, the organization of teamwork, the required tools, the main difficulties.
As explain before, the project is in 3 parts, so we have decided to split up into 3 groups who will have the task of carrying out the 3 parts mentioned above. The teamwork took a long time to be effective because of some elements that hindered our progress (for example, the absences of some people). Furthermore, we had to develop the applications on SWIFT, a programming language only available on Mac. In fact, this is also one of our main difficulties: MACs. Mac are apple computer and they are very expensive. Only few students have one. We must be at the IUT to work on the project because it’s the only place where we have access to self-services MACs.
State very precisely the part YOU have taken in the project, the problems encountered, the solutions found.
As a result of our organizational choices, I was part of the “iOS app team”, the team in charge to develop the iPhone application. In this team composed of Lucas, Rayane and me, we divided the work in order to be more efficient. Thus, I took care of the login and user registration. These are the homes pages of the application. When you click on the application to launch it, the login or registration will appear first. So first I created the views of the different pages (this is the visible part of the application, what you see when you launch the application). Then these pages had to be made functional. I had to connect the newly created application to the database, which was not a piece of cake, to finally arrive at a functional login and registration page.
Make an overall assessment of the achievement made by the group, the strengths and weaknesses of the result.
At first, the absences of some and the ineptitude of others made us lose a lot of time. Half of the group didn't come to the project session and the project wasn't really progressing. In addition, we had to learn a new programming language that is relatively special, which also took us some time. In a second phase, we had found our cruising speed, but we had a lot to do. When we thought we were almost done, the coronavirus got in and we can't work anymore (because we don't have MAC at home).
