In this file we will deal with the essence of Voyage and Return stories. Robinson Crusoe is said to have inspired the typical Voyage and Return stories. Robinson Crusoe is a story about a man marooned on an island “Robinson Crusoe” is used to speak about a type of book and subgenre: Voyage and Return stories.

The pattern of such a story is likely to unfold like this : Anticipation stage and fall into the other world it’s about the characters state of mind before arriving in the other world the characters are curious anxious ; Initial fascination or Dream stage : when the characters start discovering the other world; Frustration stage : The situation is getting more and more difficult ; Nightmare stage : the hero is in danger of death; Thrilling escape and return : they come back to when they belonged, they have learnt something .

This extracts are taken from British literature and all the characters are children or teenagers. How these stories can belong to voyage and return stories?

CONCLUSION

These stories can belong to Voyage and return stories because they contains all the different steps of the typical Voyage and return stories ; all the characters are marooned on an island. They look adventurous like Robinson Crusoe they used different sort of techniques in order to survive like built a raft or go fishing. They also make shelters and fires. At the end of the story they gain maturity and become crafty. They lose their innocence, they have learnt something. They can lose their humanity and friendships. And maybe they can come back to where they belonged but it is not automatic.
