the summary :

After the death of her husband, Norma Bates decides to settle in White Pine Bay, with her 17-year-old son Norman Bates.                                                          She buys there an old motel abandoned for many years, as well as the mansion. Mother and son have always had a complex relationship.                                                     Tragic events will be brought closer together. They will now be sharing  together a heavy secret ...

Vera Farmiga is an actress and producer  born January 28, 1973 in Clifton, New Jersey, United States. In the Bates Motel series she plays the role of the mother Norma Bates. 

She is known for her roles in The Air, The Infiltrates and Source Code, as well as in the horror productions Esther, Joshua, Conjuring, and the television series Bates Motel.
