In 2020, the coronavirus epidemic has taken a heavy toll around the world. While the crisis has subsided and deconfinement has begun, the current objective is to avoid a second wave, therefore the use of tracking apps is being debated.
Many countries already opted for this solution such as China however it raises concerns. Indeed, some citizens are forced to isolate themselves without any explanation, preventing them from working. Despite considering that the use of this application in China goes against human rights, I accept other practices that remain within the limits.
These applications require access to a lot of personal data such as geolocalisation, that's why people tend to think that it’s an invasion of privacy. From my viewpoint the “stop covid” project in France respects perfectly individual liberties and would allow for a long term security by reducing considerably the contaminations.
Hitherto, the use of this technology did not bother anyone. Indeed, we can see that some of the population is willing to give up this data without even knowing it, like with facebook, then why is the same technology that would save lives the object of controversy? In the end I realize that the problem is not the technology itself but the social relevance of this innovation. To conclude, I notice that this is a social problem because human beings are reluctant to the unknown. This is what the famous american sociologist Everett Rogers tried to demonstrate all his life with his book Diffusion of innovations which illustrates the current problem.
