On the picture illustring the text, we can see a man sitting on a long chair at the beach. He is using a laptop and a cell phone, he looks relaxed and he must be on holidays. He must be a with collar worker such as the executive of a company ( CEO ) or a businessman.
He symbolizes the modern India with a high living standards and an advanced technology.
At the bottom of the picture, we can see three men riding their bikes to go to work. They must be blue collar workers and they are at the bottom of the social ladder.
Since the late 1980's, India has become attractive to foreign investors, its attractiveness is due to the cheap english-speaking labor force.
India sees a rise of the " brain gain " with is the return to India of high skilled native Indian, it's the opposite of the " brain chain ".
The women's lives have changed because now they are allowed to drive and to go to universities to get a degree, in other words, they are more independent, emancipated.
India's economic transformation is makes by the rise of internet cafés, cable T.V and cell phones.
In the second text, we are given the example of a successful Indian man : his name is Rishi Rajani; he is in his thirties and he is a business in the textile industry. He claims to be workaholic ; someone who is addicted to his work. He likes to flaunt his money, show off wealth because he views it a a reward.
