I'm going to talk about someone worthy, to whom I would like to attribute the Nobel Prize. Indeed, as an influent actress, Angelina Jolie decided to use her position to campaign for various causes, including conservation, education and women's rights. She has fought for many years now in the name of women, and more precisely for women who are victims of sexual abuse in armed conflicts.

Although the consequences of armed conflicts affect communities as a whole, they particularly affect women and girls because of their social status and gender. Parties involved in conflict situations often practice rape of women and sometimes resort to systematic rape as a tactic of war. Murder, sexual slavery, forced pregnancy and sterilization are other forms of violence against women committed in the context of armed conflicts. Despite these acts, women should not simply be seen as victims of war. They also play a key role in guaranteeing the survival of their families during these periods of unrest and destruction and are particularly active in the peace movement at the elementary levels, cultivating peace within their communities. They remain, however, absent from the peace negotiations. The abuses that women and girls suffer in armed conflicts may take various forms, such as rape, sexual slavery and forced prostitution. Women refugees remain highly vulnerable to violence and exploitation while in fight, as well as in countries of asylum and during repatriation.

As the ambassador of the United Nations Refugee Agency, Angelina Jolie has been fighting for several years against sexual violence towards women in armed conflicts. She otherwise organized a summit in London to raise awareness of the issue among the public opinion. Angelina Jolie gave a speech on the policy of sexual violence set up by Daech, and she expressed herself about the issue of sexual violence perpetrated by Daech in front of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. She called on governments to mobilize to fight the curse together.

A few years ago, she met with Chloe Dalton and Arminka Helic during a campaign to prevent sexual assaults on war zones. Together they created a partnership called Jolie Pitt Dalton Helic, whose goal is to work to improve the rights of women refugees. Their program of actions concerns health, education, international justice, and the fight against all forms of violence. Her two colleagues are former specialists who have worked for the British government. Their institutional contacts could help them find solutions to these serious problems. The project can certainly produce a real positive impact on the lives of thousands of people. This is the wish of Angelina, who should invest even more in the years to come.

There is still a high percentage of women who are sexually abused in armed conflicts, but this percentage is decreasing through of the many organizations that campaign for women's rights in war zones. Moreover, the plentiful testimonies brought by survivors as well as the speech of Angelina Jolie for example, helped to make people aware of this plague.

This situation is unacceptable, and this is why I also would like to bring my help to abused women in armed conflicts by carrying out a humanitarian action for the United Nations in order to help and support women in war zones. Consequently, I encourage others to do so, in order to raise awareness of this issue and thus contribute to improving the living conditions of these women.
