I'm going to talk about one of the four notions: Sapces and exchanges but first and foremost i would like to give a definition of "exchange". We are used to translating the notion of exchande by the fact of giving to recieve in return, it might be an exchange of objets, or knowledge, but in that case we are talking about an exchange of culture and tradition through the immigration. The notion of space can evolve and take differents forms but we decided to focus our work on the Great Britan and the United-States. The meeting between societies generally came along with conflicts based on differents cultures that the immigration brought. So we can ourselves, How the immigration is benefical for the Great Britan and the United-States ? To respond we are going use 3 documents, The black Britons, The Notting Hill Carnival and Daniel Griswold's article on the immigration in America appeared on 2002. First i will speak about The immigration in Great Britan, then i'll deal with its multicultural side and finally i will explain the multiculturalism in America.

I-The immigration in Great Britan

World War II marked another period of growth for the black communities in London, Liverpool and everywhere in Britain. Many blacks from the Caribbean and West Africa arrived in small groups in the 40s to the 60s. During their debuts in Great Britain they still consider themselves as "Blacks" whereas the younger generation think there is no contradiction between their ethnicity and their nationality. While the black british started to feel more british, the rest of the population think different. Indeed there was a big racism in the country and the immigrants were very discriminated. Howerver, this isn't the first wave of immigration and like the others this one is kind of benefical for the Great Britan because it strengthens the term of multiculturalism that has always been present.

II-A multicultural country

During their phase of integration, in 1964, the migrants afro-Caribbean communities strated to meet themselves once a year to celebrate their own cultures and traditions. This meeting gave rise to the famous Nottin Hill Carnival. At the beginning there was only the migrants but over time people for all the country participated to the carnival and participate today again. This meeting is a good occasion for the migrants to show their culture with local music, typical food and costumes but it's also a way to celebrate the cohabitation between all the origins and the religions as well as the sharing of stories and cultures.

III-Multiculturalism in America

In the 1800s the immigration is propagating in the United States and begins to affraid the Americans. The migrants coming from the whole world are despised. Today we still hear the same speech. However, according to the journalist Daniel Griswold "Immigration is not undermining the American experiment; it is an integral part of it. We are a nation of immigrants." The immigration mustn't be considered as a disabilitie but as a help of developpement of the culture of the country and the tolerance. Moreover, the immigration contributes to the economic growth a lot and in the enrichment of the country.

To conclude, even if the integration of the migrants in the country is difficult, it is necessary and helps the country to develop itself and to get rich in a cultural and economic way
