Strange fruit est une chanson écrite par LEWIS ALLEN et interpréter pour la première fois par BILLIE HOLIDAY une chanteuse noire, au Café Sociéty (NY) en 1939. Cette chanson raconte le lynchage des noirs durant la ségrégation racial.

BILLIE Holiday

Née en 1915 son enfance comme sa jeunesse fut compliqué, elle deviendra quelque années aprés la chanteuse la plus émouvante de l'histoire du jazz avec son originalité sa voix accidulé envoutante et ses interprétation sublime et déchirante. Malgrès une forte popularité sa vie privé est une catastrophe, elle l'expliquera dans son autobiographie Lady Sings the Blues sortie en 1956. Elle décèdra en 1959 à l'hopital inculpée de détention de stupéfiants.
