I’m going to present you the notion of spaces and exchanges. During the year we studied this notion through the topic of new technologies, which is a perfect example of exchanges between different spaces, because new technologies are used by people in different countries to communicate with one another.

The question we will deal with is: to what extent do new technologies impact on social integration?

I’m going to answer this problem in two parts: the first on the benefits of new technologies and the second on their drawbacks.

On the one hand new technologies are a revolution in the way we can communicate nowadays. With the internet, families far from each other in different parts of the world can easily keep contact with text messages, video calls, or social networks. It keeps them close, no matter how far apart they are. Social networks are not only used to stay in touch with our friends and family, but also to meet new people that have the same interests as us online. That’s why there are many social networks in the world, so that everyone can find the one that matches what they are looking for.

The social network the most used in the world is Facebook, with more than 2 billion users worldwide. They have the power to build community with real friends or strangers, to discover what’s happening in the world, and to share and express what matters to them. There are also social networks based on our center of interest: in the article a world of connection, studied in class, we learnt more about different applications: Instagram which consists in sharing pictures, LinkedIn which is aimed at career professionals, Skyrock which is about music and entertainment, Muxlim aimed at the world’s Muslims, Research Gate which connects scientists and researchers. There are also a lot of social networks were you can meet people who are looking for friendships or love relationships and have a personality that matches with your.

In this way, new technologies seem to be the best invention for our social interactions.
