I’m going to introduce the notion “Myths and heroes”. A hero is  person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements,or noble qualities. It can be the main character in a book or a film or a person with superhuman qualities. It can also be a modern-day hero, a person who has performed a heroic act or simply our own personal hero, our role model, who we look up to.By these definitions we can wonder how can heroes improve our society. I’m going to answer to this problematic by using 3 documents.

The first document is called “I have a dream” by MLK jr. MLK was a afro-american minister. He was known for being the leader of a pacifist movement for coloured people rights. His policy was based on Gandhi’s philosophy: non violence. He pronounces speeches and organised demonstrations, marches or sittings. His most famous speech is “I have a dream”. Over 250000 persons attended his speech. His speech is very moving. He used biblical references. It’s pretty ironical because in America, white people are mainly Christians so there are being hypocrites if they are racist. He uses emphasis and makes pauses so that the crowd can think about what he’s saying. His speech is like a song and “I have a dream” is the chorus it can means that his speech was made to be remembered. Thanks to his speech and the march. The Civil Rights Act was passed a year later in 1964. It was indeed a success.

The second document that I’m going to introduce is “Helping the dreamers”. It’s a speech pronounced by BO in 2012 who was the President of the United States. BO evokes new measures that his government will take to improve immigrations policy by making them fairer and more effective for “dreamers”. Those dreamers are children who were born and raised in America but are undocumented. Despite the fact that they lived all of their lives in America and don’t even know their homeland, they are forced to leave this country. BO asks to Americans citizens to put them in their shoes. This is why the “dream act” was created”. By this law he improve the american society and is a hero for these children.

The third and last document isn’t a speech like the other two, it’s a picture. The image contains 2 parts. The first part is a image of Rosa. We can assume it’s a photo of when she was sitting in the bus before refusing to give up her seat to a white person. The second show BO in a limo. The date indicate “2008”, it was the year of BO first election. The picture answer my problematic. We can see how far black people can go now. Nowadays black people can pursue whatever job they want to do. Before that, coloured people didn’t have a lot of opportunities.

The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change - a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. To illustrate this notion, we can wonder how much has America evolve with the help of big figures. We’re going to answer to this through  3 big figures who were and are  fighting for equal rights.

But there’s still injustice in this world. I think we’re going to regress because of DT’s election.

An exchange is the act of giving or receiving something in substitution for something else. Nowadays these exchanges can take several forms: economic (with exchange of goods and services), culture (when we exchange ideas, information) and movement of people. Our modern-day world is changing quickly due to improvements in communication for instance and also immigration which brought differents languages, cultures, religions to other countries which have become a real Melting Pot. These different interactions have characterized our world sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Through these definitions we can wonder “Is the famous American dream still achievable?”. 3 documents.
