Democracy is when the government offers a fair chance for policy making to all the genuine people. It is also about providing fair participation to people through inclusion by politicians. It is a record that the first nation in the world to have a representative constitution was the United States. This recognizes the American Constitution as the world's oldest. In all facets of government, the United States may tend to be democratic. Looking closely at the actions of the United States, one is left with several questions that are not addressed. It may be assumed to a greater level that the United States is not a democracy.

Democracy is lacking where gerrymandering is permitted. Therefore it is a matter of redistributing the state by collecting the voters of the opposing camp in as few electoral districts as practicable so that the adversary wins them by ensuring that the remaining districts are won with the lowest possible vote. In the final review, the equality that the constitution represents is missing.

Another mechanism that brings the democracy of the United States to the test is the Electoral College. While it seems to be a well-defined mechanism, the Electoral College rejects the freedom of voters to freely elect their representatives. When the voters exercise their right to vote in a presidential election, based on which party has taken the lead in a given state, they grant the electors in the college often named big electors the voting power. The founding fathers set this structure in place, but it goes against the values of democracy. It is a balance between the election of the President by a majority of Congress and the election of the President by registered people by a popular vote. It is not done somewhere else in the world, because democracy is being diluted.

However there are also a few democratic systems that undermine democracy, such as the Electoral College, that don't require a direct popular vote. It makes the country a republic where decisions are taken by elected officials. There is also the gerrymandering, an occasion when someone in authority changes the borders of an area in order to increase the number of people within that area who will vote for a particular party or person. These few examples proves These few examples show us the turning point that democracy risks taking if America does not change the political systems that hinder the principles of democracy.
