I’m going to talk about the notion « idea of progress » . A progress can be defined as a development or a change . It can be technological , scientific or social advance .

Here I’m going to talk about the social advance with women’s right

I would answer the problems: there a wind of change for women ?

To be done I would treat 2 parts first

I) Differences and inequalities between men and women

Before , women stayed at home while their husband were working in the aim to bring money. Women were only there to cook, clean or take care of the kids.

Women wore only dresses because the jeans were reserved for men.

This vision to change through wars in fact men at the front women had to work to make society work, it is also after the Second World War that women get the right to vote in 1947 is near 100 years after men

Inequalities persist today in the world of work. Women's wages are lower than men's. Moreover, in some countries women are still treated as inferior beings. In India, women are forced to marry at a very young age and do not have access to education. Worldwide, 63 million women do not go to school

women are victims of discrimination and violence at all stages of their lives. The still-prevalent preference for men forces many families in India, China and the Caucasus to resort to selective abortion based on the sex of the unborn child. According to the United Nations, there are 200 million women in the world missing. Discrimination against women therefore begins even before birth.

Feminism is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.

We also studied the film shot in Dagenham in which a worker at the Ford plant in Dagenham, a suburb of London, is going to lead a movement aimed at achieving equal pay for men and women.

2) Women continually fighting for their rights

But even nowadays, there ate still prejudices and discrimination against women. We can mention a campaign which was created by the United Nations named HeForShe for which Emma Watson delivered a speech to involve men in the struggle against gender inequality and became a model for people particularly for feminists. Actually, she uses her fame and popularity to mobilises people to stand up for gender equality, change women’s lives and thanks to that, her message is particularly striking because people identify with her. But, she’s not the only one to try to make things happen. We may also mention the speech of Chimamanda NgoziAdichie, a Nigerian writer, in which she says that in our modern society, women are turned into an art formed, prejudiced and dehumanized. To her, if we want to make a difference, men need to be feminist too.

Both documents make us realize that our today’s society still suffers from gender inequality but modern heroes and models are fighting against this scourge, by speaking and involving everybody in this struggle. But I have to disagree with the fact that a modern hero has to be famous, we can take the example of Malala, a Pakistani activist who shows that fight for ideas could make you a mode
