INDIAN RAILWAY – FINAL TASK
Hello everyone, I'm Joachim Pinel, journalist from The Guardian, and I'm gonna speak about my last journey, in India. I started my travel in Rajkot, a city in the west of India. Famous for its silk work, gold jewelry, and watch parts, Rajkot is a fast developing city of the nation. It's one of the cleanest cities in India. One of the first things I discovered as soon as I arrived, was the fact that they eating a lot of riz, and there is more railway by square meters than in England. Trains look very important transport way in India. We can find very opposite trains. From very luxurious trains, with restaurants included and a lot of space in the cars, to the most used trains, for the middle class of India. The engine was working with steam and the cars were very overcrowded. India's citizens used this train every day to go to work, like the underground in England. This travel was very uncomfortable, due to the crowd and the heat. Moreover, someone robbed me of my camera while I was in the car. After this step in Rajkot, I moved to Calcutta in the North-West of India, to see the shantytown and the contrast with Rajkot. In the slums, I saw children play on the railway. It's very dangerous because the train passes every 20 minutes and could crush them. The place is very poor, and we can see makeshift homes. Before I go back to England, I went to Agra, to see one of the famous monuments of India, The Taj Mahal. This monument is very famous for its architecture and, attracted thousands of visitors every year. India is very exotic for European people. Everything is different, food, way of transport with the tuctuc taxi... I recommend you to go to India, if you want to visit something very exotic, it's very a wonderful country, but if you go to the restaurant, don't ever take "spicy", or you gonna regret this.
