Little biography

 His realm real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III. He was born in October 17,1972 in St Joseph(Missouri). Abandoned by his father, he was raised by his mother in Missouri before she decided to move to Detroit. It is in this city that Eminem will experience the worst moments of his life: thin, white, red and living in a black majority, in the street and at school, he is regularly insulted, beaten and humiliated.

He became an American rapper, record producer and actor. Eminem is the best-selling artist of the 2000s in the United States.

Lose yourself

We can wonder if there is a link between the song “lose yourself” and the youth of the rapper in Detroit.

Eminem's song means that in life if one had the chance to realize everything one dreams, one would not let it pass. What prevents us are all the fears that are buried within ourselves, including the fear of others' gaze. He proposes as a solution to become a famous person by practicing music (for him "a normal life is annoying").Nevertheless, the life of star can bring its share of disadvantages: privacy sacrificed, not to be appreciated by its public.

All the clip is based on a flashback: the first part shows, commuter life at Road Mile neighbourhood of New York, close to that lived by Eminem in his youth.

It tells the galleys and delinquency of the main character in a gang.

Because of his poverty, he is struggling to get out of the spiral of violence, his daughter has witnessed.

New York is represented at night to accentuate its dehumanized aspect. The main character comes out thanks to his artistic talent that gives him access to the American dream.

It's American rap, this clip reminds us that rap was born in the USA. In the introduction, we hear the piano synthesizer, and choir tablecloths. It is a melancholic and calm atmosphere: the music tells the story of the artist upside down when it ended well. The rest of the clip is made up of flashback: how it is going from galley to celebrity. We hear 2 electric guitars, it's a mixture of techno and rock. The choice of rock is to express galley and violence in the suburbs.
