                                      THE THIEVES’ CHRISTMAS EVE           

We are in an old mansion located in the Canada’s mountains. This place is the secret den of three reputed thieves. This gang is composed of a leader named Barth and his accomplices named Joe and Dick. Barth is very advanced in hold-up, he had stolen more than twenty banks. But he is scornful and sometimes violent, he hates to share booty with his accomplices.

 Joe and Dick are friends since a long time, they would to earn much money to buy a private island. They don’t like Barth but they help him just to have part of the booty.

They gathered in their den to speak about the distribution of their hold-up’s booty.

The action took place during the Christmas Eve. It was 22 o’clock, Barth was waiting his accomplices. He had protected the booty on a safe and had hidden its key. He had also felt that the negotiations will be very hard so he prepared three glasses of wine to try to make the negotiation easier.

It was 23 o’clock when Joe and Dick had rung, they were stressed.

The thieves sat in big chairs and began the conversation. Barth said that they had to finish the distribution quickly and honestly to avoid problems. He proposed to take fifty percent of the booty for him. Dick, angry, retorted that it was unfair, he didn’t agree. The time flied, to speak became more and more hard, and the atmosphere became more and more electric. The tension was at its peaks.

Suddenly, Dick took a revolver and shot on the head of Barth who died instantly. Joe and dick, panicked, had to find a solution to avoid problem with an investigation. Joe said that they could twist some clues to transform this scene to a burglary scene which had bad turned. Joe was opening the window and broking the door open was smashing furniture.

Before escaping, they had looked for the key of the safe but had found nothing. They left the room sad, thinking about their private island.

A short time after, a neighboring discovered the scene, terrified, she called immediately the police. Then, a famous sleuth named Speek arrived. He can do large conclusions from small details. He is smart and has a very good view to detect everything. He began his investigation by an interview of the only witness, the neighboring. She wasn’t very helpful, she heard just three men spoke a long time and after, a shotgun. Then, Speek looked for clues; he observed a long time the scene and wrote what he had observed in a note book. He had seen many details, for instance that the window is open, the door had been broken, the corpse…

Three days later, Speek gave the conclusion. He had found that it wasn’t a burglary because the witness had heard three men speak longtime, moreover Speek had observed that there were three glasses so the victim waited for people. He concluded that the murderers had twisted the scene to impede the investigation. Thanks to a print of hands and thanks to an autopsy, the sleuth had arrest the two other thieves.
