Can twitter and social media ban private companies ; personalities or anyone in general ?

On my point of view, I think they can because they put on their web site inscription some  charter of terms and if we don’t respect them we should be ban of the social network in question like trump was ban definitly by twitter. The question we should answer is why this  create some controverse ?

This is the first time in history that a president of Donald Trump's stature has been banned from social networks. After the events on Capitol Hill, Twitter decided to permanently close the account of the 45th U.S. president. "It's quite common for a political activist to find himself banned from social networks in this way," explains Benoît Piédallu, a member of the quadrature of the net. "But the fact that Donald Trump was banished only after several years of exaggeration, misinformation and hate speech is finally a little late".. And we understand that a personality like Donald Trump does a lot for the network because he brings in people and brings in a lot of feeds". "There is a charter and terms of use for this network. It is thus normal that they act on their own network since they are responsible for it". But the responsibility of the major platforms is being questioned after this event and should give rise to lively debates in the coming weeks.

Conclusion :

The fact Twitter is a private company with private interests make all the controverse because they hesitate to ban trump because they need influence of strong leader to make people go on they social network and not on an other. So the real questionis : Where should the balance be struck between profitability and respect for corporate values on the net?
