The Idea
The core idea of my small business is to build and fully develop a chain of kindergartens in Kiev, Ukraine and by having that done, to solve the urgent problem of the capital- the severe shortage of kindergartens and preschools. Within the short-time period I plan to rent a ground floor in one of the new buildings in one of the new areas in Kiev that are rapidly appearing while city expansion. Then I will reconstruct the space and build the kindergarten inside, so there is going to be enough places for kids in the new area built. According to the massive development of residential complexes in the last 5 years, the population started to grow with extraordinary speed what led the lack of spaces in kindergartens and day care centers of preschool type, thus, I strongly believe that building and developing a chain of kindergartens will solve this serious issue and, also, will bring a good business opportunity.
The Vision
As soon as I develop a chain of private kindergartens in Kiev, they will become one of the best ones in the city due to their financial and local availability. Busy parents will be able to save time and a bunch of money to give their children to guardianship of the professionals, instead of applying in 10-year lines to a state kindergarten without a single guarantee to get a place there in the end, or to leave home in 3 hours before work in order to have their kid in the day center on the way while trying to avoid traffics jams. Besides, according to the numbers (see the Market analysis part), the city is catastrophically short of kindergartens and places of preschool education, and each year the situation becomes even worse, due to the rise of population and unstable economical and political situation. That is why creating kid day care centers will solve a major problem not only for the capital citizens, but for the will support the city authority in solving this issue. At long-term perspective of 10 years, I plan to build and establish steadily the chain of private kindergartens across the new residential complexes and then, in the next 5 years, across the original Kiev districts where the main problem stays with state low-quality and overcrowded kindergartens. Having said that, the chain of my kindergartens has all chances to settle down on the market, have a regular stable income and constant cycle of consumers.
The Definition of the Project
According to the new law, since October 2018 it is officially allowed to rent a space (ground floor) in residential houses for day care centers and preschools (tsn.ua, 2018). As was mentioned before, in Kiev there is a massive construction of new and modern residential complexes (see pic.1).

Therefore, I plan to sign a rent contract with the local community of tenants about providing me a free space on ground floor, so there is going to be one kindergarten in one residential building. There is going to be one kindergarten per residential area in a long-term perspective. Note, that almost all new-built residential complexes based within the city don’t forbid non-residentials to use internal goods, such as playing yards, pharmacies, supermarkets etc.
Initially, I want to start with the residential complex that has the lowest percentage of any kind of preschools (either state, or private) in the area (see Pic. 2)

As it seen from the Picture 2, there are several areas in the capital that strongly need kindergartens and preschools. 5 Kiev districts (Holosiiv, Darnytsia, Slom’yansk, Svyatoshyn and Obolon) have the highest population rates and the lowest amount of any kind of preschool educational institutions.
Having said that, I will start with Darnytsia area that proves to be the worst area. There are 2 residential complexes – “Charivne misto”/ “The magic city” (12 buildings of 13-floor high) and “Zarychniy” (6 buildings of 21-26-floor high, 2080 flats) (3m2.ua, online). Even though Kiev authorities plan to build one kindergarten in each complex, dates and terms are still not specify which means that I have higher possibilities to be “the number one” kindergarten in the area.

In parallel with the rent agreement, I will also conclude a contract with the construction company, so the process of building a kindergarten will start immediately. The approximate time estimated for the ground floor reconstruction is 6 months since the both contracts are signed.
Finally, the kindergarten will have such characteristics:
- age groups (+3, +4 and +5)
- 10-15 kids per group
- four meals a day
- western model of parenting children (teamwork, focus on kid’s interpersonal and communication skills development); famous pedagogues’ tactics and education programs
- full-time and part-time
- basic preschool education (arithmetic, grammar, reading and speaking)
- entertainment & events (national, seasonal or birthday parties)
- outdoor playground shared with the local tenants’ community
- speech therapist / psychologist
Additionally, the kindergarten will have its logo, slogan and benchmarks on subsidiary elements that are going to be provided to each kid in the group (notebooks, sketchbooks). All the identity elements will be protected by design pattern.
