Places and forms of power

        I'm going to talk about locations and forms of power. In order to live together, members of a community accept rules, regulations and laws. But sometimes this rules can lead to conflicts and tensions because of inequalities between people. What is the place of women in our society faced with men?

Firstly, I will talk about stereotypes between men and women, secondly about gender inequalities, then about an solidarity campaign for equality.

        Still at the 21th century, there are a lot of stereotypes between men and women. In class, we saw a video which illustrate some of them. For exemple, when women have a date, they need 2 hours to get ready whereas men need only 5 minutes. When women come home they do house chores as opposed to men who sit on the sofa and watch TV. So we can say that this video is humourous and ironic.

        But more seriously, there are still importants inaqualities between men and men. In class, I saw a second video which is, this time, very serious contrary to the first. Daniel Craig, the stereotypes of manhood and the actor who's playing James Bond is on the stage. M his boss, who is a woman is listing the advantages of JB as a man. For instance, a man is more likely to earn more money than a woman and there would be virtually no risk for his career if he choses to become a parent. Moreover he has hardly any chances of falling victim of sexual assault.

        Then M asks JB to imagine what it feels like to be a woman, that's why he dresses up into women's clothes. When he returns, he leaves the stage very quickly. In fact he must surely feels guilty as a man, because every year 60M of girls arould the world are sexually assaulted on their way to school. And every week, 2 women are killed by her partner in the UK.

        In fact, this video is a spot TV to sensitize people about gender inequalities. Daniel Craig wanted to support woman's day in 2011.

        HeForShe is a solidarity campaign for gender equality. It aims to engage men and boys as agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights, by encouraging them to take action against inequalities faced by women and girls. In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2015, Emma Watson represented the HeForShe movement by hosting a live Facebook conversation in which she addressed questions and hosted an conversation about gender equality. The event was viewed by millions people around the world. Like the Daniel Craig's video, the purpose was to sensitize people.

        Despite the many rights acquired by women in the 20th century, women are still considered lower as men. This is why some personnality like Daniel Craid and some organisation like HeforShe still fight against gender inequalities.
