Katherine Johnson was a black mathematician and physicist who worked for the Naca (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) then for Nasa. Katherine was a young Afro-American so she couldn’t have a normal schooling because schools who don’t accept black americans. Katherine was know for the reliability of her calculations. She calculated and checked the trajectories during the first missions of John Glenn and Alan Shepard. We renamed it as “The Human Computer”. In 2015, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and in 2019, the United States Congress awarded her the Gold Medal of Congress. Katherine Johnson is dead on February 24, 2020 at the age of 101.
