A French wine bar in San Mateo

  1. Localisation :

For our first establishment abroad we chose to implement it in California in the city of San Mateo more precisely at 2180 S El Real Camino, San Mateo

This city presents many advantages due to its localisation. In fact, San mateo is located between San Francisco and the Silicon Valley.

Consequently, to establish a shop in San Mateo enable us to pay less rent while we are near very wealthy population. In addition of that, people living in California seem to be the most cultivated and open-minded persons… for example it is the most multilingual State in the United States of America.

In addition of that they are a lot of wineries around San Francisco, so people use to drink wine and are usually wine lovers.

  1. Description of the business :

 

We have decided to create a business abroad. More precisely we want to set up a French wine bar that offers different products from France like cheese or ham. This bar will be called "French wine bar". Our main objective is to bring French culture to another country and make the people of that country discover it. We first want to create this bar in California, located in the west of the United States. We want to develop it in this state because it is the most populated state of the country so we could reach more people and have more customers. Specifically, we want to locate our bar in San Francisco, which is a very cosmopolitan city.

 

To carry out this project we are four collaborators:

-          Louis Garnier who is the CEO,

-          Mayeul Jacquot who is the CFO,

-          Lucas Galdeano who is the sales manager,

-          And Benoit Gronier who is our marketing director.

 

Then we are going to recruit 2 employees to start in order to ensure the activity of the bar.

 

Infrastructure :

 

To realize our project we need to start with only one infrastructure, namely a bar. For this purpose we decided to rent a location on one of the main avenues of San Mateo for a long period of time. We would obviously need equipment to operate the bar that we will buy in a large sign on the spot (tables, chairs, kitchen utensils, TV etc...). The rented location will allow us to welcome more than 100 customers at the same time.

  1. Cultural and ethical issues

We must pay attention to several point:

-           The age of our customers (over 21: the age of majority)

-           The prices of our product: keep a representative price of production and product

-           The delivery from France: ecological and responsible delivery, attuned to current pollution problems.

-           Possible waste of our sales: mindful of the concept of over production and overconsumption

-           Respectful of the local culture and non-oppressive consumption: find the right balance for the market.

-           Be representative of the image of France and respectful of the franchise.

-    Be in compliance with local legislation

-           Jean- Merlaut.com is the website of Bordeaux wines. Passionate oenophile who has been selling only what he drinks since 1978. The wines sold are regularly tasted in a vaulted cellar. They are preciously kept in a thermos-regulated warehouse of more than 4000m2. All the wines, except primeurs, which are proposed to us on the website are actually available in stock
