The country living or the city living?
Nowadays, the economic development and the urbanization made a huge gap between the country and the city living. A few years ago, Moroccans used to prefer the country living. According to a government research, more than 60% of them were living on the countryside in 1950. But now, it is the opposite. Even if the two areas are narrowed, they have a lot of differences concerning both work opportunities and environment..
First of all, the city and the countryside offer different work opportunities. Since the city is usually big and crowded, individuals are more likely to find different kind of work there than anywhere else; meanwhile in the countryside, there are limited opportunities of work which most of them are related to farming.
Second of all, the two areas are different concerning the environment. Although it has a lot of business centers and factories, the city is mainly characterized by its polluted air; while, the air in the countryside is very clean thanks to the absence of factories. The countryside is quiet and has a limited number of vehicles in the contrary of the city that is noisy because of its huge number of cars.
Third of all, either in the city or in the countryside, people can get young appearance and long lives in different ways. Countryside people look very young thanks to their pure air and fresh food. The nature of work in the countryside positively affects the health of its people. Thus, they usually don’t have to go to the doctor. Also, citizens can look younger than their ages by following healthy diets, practicing sports, and consulting doctors.
In conclusion, neither of the two choices is the best. Life in the city is very different than life in the countryside. People who have to make a choice concerning the place where they want to live should weight the similarities and the differences between the two areas. Like it’s said in French: “The city has a face; the countryside has a soul” Jacques de Lacretelle.
