St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17 to honor the Irish
Saint Patrick, a missionary who converted Ireland to Christianity.
It is said that he used the shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity:
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Since that day, the shamrock is the national emblem of the reland, and the Irish are
proudly in their buttonholes on the day of Saint Patrick.
A legend says that Saint Patrick drove the snakes from Ireland,
The snakes were all drowned in the ocean,

but we think this is because the snake was a pagan symbol
and that St. Patrick had driven out the heathen of Ireland.
In America, Saint Patrick is a day of celebration and rejoicing.

The Legend of Blarney Stone
The Blarney Stone is a stone embedded in the tower of Blarney Castle
in the village of Blarney in Ireland.
Kissing the stone is to assume the power to speak eloquently.

but a legend says, that an old woman cast a spell on the stone

The tradition is that one is wearing green to celebrate St. Patrick's
In some places, students can pinch their teacher,
if it is not dressed in green on this day.
