 I'm doing my traineeship in the city council at Martigues in the social department.

The website is that of the city: www.ville-martigues.fr

In this department they welcome differents pubics who want a social housing. People return the written file for house ( is it a questionnaire to fill out indicating their current situation, the place and th type of hous disired, the resources as well as the identity of the people who will live in the future house. Attachments: photocopy of identity and taxes.

Following this, there is a study of the demand. This consits in calculating the family budget with their possible new rent to know their rate of effort. If it's less than 40%, the demand can be submited in commission to a possible assigment. There are emergencies, like homeless people or violence in the family, these people go first. They work with association like social residences. According to the situation they redirect people to the associations while waiting to find housing available for them.

I found this traineeship by filing a CV and cover letter to the department “ direction of human resources”.

The supervisor of department social housing called me and I had an interview over the phone.

 In this department there are 9 workers: two in part-time and the other in full time.

There are not volunteers.

There are four secretaries, two advisors of attributions, one supervisor and one secretary of supervisors.

The secretaries take the completed requests with attachments. Saves them to the platform via the computer.

They also give information to the public for the progress of their request and grant appointments to meet the advisors of attribution or to meet the superiors.

The advisors of attribution receive the public for an update on their demand. They calculate the family budget and the rest to live.

The supervisor is responsible for submitting the demand in commission. His secretary is responsible for organising his planning and documents.

My traineeship tutor is the one advisor of the department: Mme Pechon. Her function is CESF.

I was sometimes at the reception, sometimes with the advisers of attributions and I also went in commission with the person in charge.

After a week and half of observation, I realized that people did not really know where the social housing in Martigues was, what are the emergency remedies (associations/ social residences) and what the progress of a request for social housing. For that my supervisor asked me to create communication tools to explain all this. For this I have access to a phone, copy machines, computer, printer. I had an office on the secretaria but if I wanted, I could take my laptop.

 My missions for realize the information guide for the public:

-Direct interview with the public at the reception.

-Documentary search in the archives of attributions to find the rents and the financements.

-Documentary search in the archives to find the number of social housing, types, if they adapted for disabled people and the rents. (Annex 1)

-Schematization of the demand (Annex 2)

-Shematization of a procedure DALO ( Annex 3)

-Documentary search for writing an explanation of payment help.

-Documentary search and interview over the phone for emergency socials residences in Martigues.
