Myth and Heroes
introduction:
I’m going to talk about « myth and heroes» notion’s. To begin with, I’d like to give a
definition: A myth can be defined as a story which may or may not be true (popular belief, tradition or a false notion). A hero is an iconic symbols, a person who is admired for his or her achievements, a superhero
we shall wonder Why are sports heroes so important in today’s society?
To start we can identify the importance of sport and then the different sports heroes
Part 1:
In 2010, Queen Elisabeth II made a speech during xmas break.This speech delivered values and benefit of sport. She explained that sports give a sense of share between people, no matter their ages or social backgrounds; Moreover sports create harmony, it gives cooperation between players. They keep positive team spirit most of the time. In sport there are mutual help and mutual respect. We worked on a announcement to promote the invictus game created by Prince Harry. A sporting event for soldiers who are or have been wounded by war. It’s a way to pay a tribute to their soldiers, their disabled person can start afresh. Invictus games show that sports help to rehabilitate and to go ahead mentally and physically. Sports renew a sense of purpose despite of their disability. They knows they are able to achieve something and they will try to do it.
Part 2:
To give an example of heroes we can quote Tommie Smith and John Carlos. They won gold and bronze medals during the olympic games in Mexico City in 1968. When they were on the podium, they raised black-gloved fists during the playing of the national anthem, and they took off their shoes to protest against black poverty and lynchings. American citizens were shocked. They were suspended from the U.S. team. and they received death threats. Thanks to them, it became one of the most iconic sports images of the 20th century and they became heroes for black people.
Additionally we can quote Chasity Kuczer. She was the first-ever female gold medalist in archery at the invictus game, she suffered of different pathologies as well. despite her handicap, she fought for her victory and she inspire many people. She shows the courage and determination of Paralympics athletes.
They are all inspirational.
To summarize we can say that sports heroes gives us the example to give more out of us. Heroes bright a dark world . As Tommie Smith and John Carlos, sports heroes can deliver justice or promote a message of solidarity like the queen and prince Harry.
However sports have also some disadvantages like drugs.
