What is the cybercrime?

The cyber crime is a criminal activity or crime that involves the internet, a computer system or computer technology.

What is the money laundering?

Money laundering is the process by which criminal proceeds are sanitized or ’cleaned’ to disguise their illicit and unlawful origins.

So when we laundering money by using computer tools we commit a cybercrime of money laundering

Now how it’s work

At the first, we have a money with unlawful origins, our goal is to convert this money online

Theirs’s many ways to do it

Let go through it by a reel process

I will suppose that I am a hacker, and I hacked a bank account or paypal account and to convert the stolen money to clean cash

There are 3 steps

First step is convert that money to bitcoin or any other digital currency by using a web site of crypto money exchanges and to be untraceable I have to use the tor internet browser to go into the dark net where my identity and my location are impossible to be revealed

So now we have a many without origins and this by the way is another a crime ;)

Second step is to put this money in legal online activity to justified their origins for example I will put it in online game that accept digital currency like the famous game the world of Warcraft where I can buy and sell items from different accounts now I have clean money with identified origin

Third step is cash out or even send money to financial another illegal activity

This kind of games propose many way to cash out like paypal , visa or master card and even direct transfer to a regular bank account

For the financial part I can send the money to another part by buying items from him with over price  

How the law fight against it?

In Tunisia, theirs’s no specific law against the cyber money laundering but he considers whatever the technique or the way that the maneuver was done, as crime and that in the article 92 from the Organic Law n ° 2015-26 of 7 August 2015 on the fight against money laundering  

<every intentional act which aims by any means to the false justification of the unlawful origin of property furniture or real estate or income from directly or indirectly from any crime punishable by three years' imprisonment or more and any offense punishable under the customs code.>>

In USA the money laundering considered a federal crime since 1986

There’s also international organization to fight against the money laundering like FATF: the financial action task force
