The Havel clan was getting closer and closer to the river. The horses were weak, they had not eaten for days. All in line, the horses began one by one to cross the river with their last forces. Angelica was afraid of another incident that would cost their lives but it was the only way to survive the coming winters. The icy water had not been fatal to the horses, which soon returned to the other side of the stream.
Armed with axes and baseball bats, the residents and the old man advanced one step. Their serious faces and angry eyes showed Havel that he was in hostile territory. In a crushing tone, the protagonist said, "Don't you have respect ? We accept your offer and give you our rice, our beans and our flour against your meat .... what more do you really want ?!" . Havel replied with an equally serious air, "We want your shelter for some time in order to survive the winter. My men and I will then leave for Lewiston." The tension of the atmosphere grew more and more the negotiations followed.
The old man then understood that there would be no agreement, so he gave the order to attack. Each of the fighters brandished their axes while the men of Havel were preparing to fire their arrows. Suddenly the horses began to neigh and stamp, they became crazy but seemed frightened. Above, on the roof the ravens fell like flies.
The fight had not yet begun, nobody was hurt, but Havel blew suddenly from his nose, his ears and his eyes. A muffled noise came to disrupt the silence of the battlefield. The noise was shrill and the survivors were vulnerable. They covered their ears and knelt down. Angelica followed the noise that hurt them so badly. After a few steps she cried, "Look here, it's an up and running radio, someone wants to communicate with us!" As soon as his sentence was over, angelica fell exhausted. The survivors had become vulnerable to the waves. A member of Havel's group brandished his bat to crush the radio but through the crackling he heard the voice of a man "Mayday, mayday, please, if someone hears me, my name is James I am a former scientist and I am currently in Lewiston, the city was very populous in the old world so the electromagnetic waves are everywhere. They are invisible and colorless, but they are very detrimental to our health. If you hear me, if you want to survive, do not come to Lewiston, new york or big cities...stay away from the waves and destroy every device that you can find. Good luck and God bless you"
