Freedom riders

The freedom riders were some civil right activists who fight against the black segregation in the south of america during the year 1961. The goal of this activists was to see if the law who forbid to apply segregation in the public transport were respected.

The freedom riders used some nonviolent action to defend the black cause against a very big community of racist person in the south of america, in particulary in the states of Alabama or Virginia.

. The first Freedom Ride left Washington, D.C., on May 4, 1961, and was scheduled to arrive in New Orleans on May 17.

The freedom riders plan was to have at least one seat with a black and a white people in all the bus and at least one black riders sitting up front.

There were 13 riders for the first freedom ride and one of they was attacked in South Carolina and a all the riders were arrested in the state of South Carolina or in the state of Mississipi before succed to join the new orleans which was the of the journey.

The were 13 riders at the start but 450 persons join the movment along the road , black and white people also. This activists were th victim of many violence , in particulary in Birmingam where some members of the Klux Klux clan hit them violently with baseball bat or bike chain.

Attracting the sympathy of the public opinion, the freedom ride stop a the end of the year 1961when Robert Kennedy attorney general of usa, sent an injunction forcing the segregationist States in implementing federal law.
