Training and group debut (1995 - 2000)

In 1989, rappers will.i.am and apl.de.ap meet in the breakdance Tribal Nation group. They decided to form together a group of hip-hop appointed Atban Klann. "Atban" is an acronym for "A Tribe Beyond a Nation." They record in 1992 under the label Ruthless Records with Eazy-E. However, the disc is not marketed.

After the death of Eazy-E in 1995, and some shows around Los Angeles, Will.i.am and apl.de.ap decide to recruit a new rapper and dancer, Jaime Luis Gómez, who took the pseudonym of Taboo . The group becomes Black Eyed Peas1. But this creation would not have succeeded without the broad support of billionaire Giuseppe Mazzei [ref. required].
