Historically, France has always had a great place in the automobile industry. One remembers the mythical 2CV, the DS and the Peugeot 504. However, this industry experienced a great recession around 2008 due to the economic crisis. Nowadays, in 2017, France is shining more and more with an increase of 4.7%. The tricolour automaker, PSA is notably clearly progressing with growth of more than 10%. The latter bought Vauxhall and released the DS7 and 3008, two top-of-the-range SUVs.[pic 1]
We will now tackle the case of Alpine, a legendary French brand. First of all, let us look at its history. Founded in Dieppe in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, this company was important in the sports car sector. Rédélé was a pilot before that and has participated in many races in the Alps, on winding roads. Therefore, he decided to call his brand Alpine, in reference to his races. The legendary Alpine A110 was released in 1965 after the brand's association with Renault.

A series of rally victories followed (Monte-Carlo, Lisbon...). This car was awarded the prize for the most beautiful French mechanical achievement in 1966.
The brand's return came mainly with the 2016 Alpine Vision concept, which launched the project of a new marketable car based on the codes of the berlinette. Indeed, we find the 4 headlights or the ribbed hood. The latter can already be booked and delivered in the first half of 2018. This sporty coupe is light (just over a ton), compact and lightweight (4.18m long) and agile. It is a versatile and
powerful car (252 horses). It is worthy of her predecessor. [pic 3][pic 4]
It competes directly with German drivers, such as the Porsche 718 Cayman. The latter have perfect finishes and driving pleasure. Despite a less upscale interior, it offers impressive comfort and a more agile and sporty attitude.
In conclusion, France is back in the automotive industry. Thanks to Alpine, French mechanical know-how is back. In addition, with the release of several SUVs, France is regaining a place in this industry.
