ENGLISH’S REPORT

INTRODUCTION

I have always known that I have some difficulties in oral comprehension, during my previous years, it was, I guess my Achilles heel. So then, the last year I worked specifically this point, I can say now that this is not my main objective.

So, as the TOEIC is asked to get the engineer graduation, I decided to exclusively work the TOEIC during the English classes. But, I still remain that I have to work my oral comprehension, and so, at home I have been trying to watch exclusively English videos.

I have been knowing that I would not work the TOEIC at home and so I prefer to use the English classes, to work only the TOEIC and keep the fun at home by watching the English videos.

METHODS

In order to improve my oral comprehension, I thought that I have to look every day at least thirty minutes of English videos. So, I connected my phone on the website: Google.UK and so, during an Internet Search, I find directly the video, the movie or also the football match in English. I really enjoy this kind of work because I have to focus and I take some fun to work my oral comprehension. Thus, as the site are exclusively in English, I don’t have the subtitles, and even though, at the beginning it was hard, I can’t escape to stay focus and if I want to understand the meaning and also the details, I have to listen very carefully.

For the part of the TOEIC, I work in a group of three, with Khalid AMINE and Robin PASQUIER. We decided to work every classes, some writing parts. I think that each classes, we managed to do 4 exercises of TOEIC in the book. This will help us to have better score on the writing part because in the TOEIC, there are always the same traps. For instance, now I know how to translate “faire faire” with the 3 ways:

To make somebody + infinitif

To get somebody + PP

To have somebody + PP

RESULTS

I am really enjoy about my oral comprehension and my way of working because I have been doing that with pleasure and now I really begin to understand the meaning and also some details. At the first test, last year at the beginning of the year, I remembered that the oral part was my worst mark instead of the writing comprehension. Now, with the last TOEIC that we did during the class, I can say that I am better in oral than in writing ( my marks were better in the oral comprehension than writing).

About the classes, I have been learning some knowledge, but I think that I progress too slowly and so I do not find that I learn enough. In order to change this, I will pass more times to learn the grammar and I find that the book is really good to help us to learn all the rules of grammar.

I am sure that if I learn the rules of grammar, my marks about the writing will improve faster that if I continue to do just exercises.

DISCUSSIONS AND CONCLUSION

I am going to continue my oral comprehension at home because I am sure that this will help me to progress in oral comprehension.
