Aerial Flower Girl

[pic 1]

I'm going to introduce you Aerial Flower Girl, is a stencil made by Banksy in 2013 on the wall of the gas station in Los Angeles.

The graffiti represents a young girl in profile who is taking care of a television aerial as a flower.

In the foreground I can see flowers plants and in the background a young girl who is watering a television aerial, the aerial appears to have grown and has sprouted leaves suggesting that the more kids pay attention to TV, the more influence it cultivates.

The piece remained relatively untouched, but isn’t longer on a gas station in Valero because the owner has auctioned it for a healthy sum.

Why Los Angeles ?

Los Angeles located in the South of the State of California, on the Pacific coast, the city is famous for Hollywood, the history centre of the cinema studios.

Banksy criticizes the television, he says that influence kids that's why it was shown in Los Angeles, the cradle of cinema.

He wants to make us aware of the fact that watching TV can influence us.

I chose the graffiti because I think what he says is true and during the French classes we talked about social networks, if access had to be limited, the social networks just like (tout comme) the television can influence people.

When I see the graffiti, it caught eye, I found it stylish.

Banksy created Flower Girl in the same style as Aerial Flower Girl.
